Around the World
I was born in Ontario, Canada, once drove across the country by car (a feat which took us ten days), moved and spent four years in a Swedish public school (with summers across the waters in Finland), did one Grand Tour of Europe, loved Mexico, and often visited close relatives in the States... so... travelled just enough to get the bug, but not enough to conquer it. (Which probably explains
the flying lessons.)
So, please share with me my travels and click on your destination of choice...

Europe in the Summer of 1996...
Well. At least once in a lifetime. We had a chance to spend six and a half weeks in Europe this past summer of 1996. We flew from Toronto, Canada to
Amsterdam on the Royal Dutch Airlines KLM. We spent four days in Amsterdam, then another six days in Holland and its neighbouring countries: Belgium, Germany, France and Luxembourg. The five of us travelled by car in these countries where borders are an hour or two away. Ten days later we were flying again, this time to Helsinki, Finland and we remained in Finland until our return in August. While we were there we took two short trips away from my cousin's cottage in Haukivuori: we hopped on one of the beautiful Silja-line ferries and travelled across the waters to Stockholm, Sweden; and near the end of our trip we spent a day in Estonia. My Checklist Page definitely helped get us off and going.

Eating Around the World
Nice memorable moments in my life have included eating a good leisurely meal and talking with friends or family at a side-walk café. I do enjoy good food, which sometimes may be a very simple and humble, but divine meal...

Although we are not vegetarians, our culinary focus in 1996 was on a great variety of meatless meals. I notice that vegetarian food can be sampled when travelling also, whether in the British Isles, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, or in Switzerland (countries of our family's ancestral background).
