Now, take a deep breath...

Puppies are Doing Fine!
What, me worry?
Yes, I constantly worry with new pups. Sitting bolt upright in the middle of the night every time the baby monitor emits a squeak. Dashing in the room, dripping suds from washing dishes, quickly counting: one, two, three... whew! But is Maddie panting too much? Does she have an infection, mastitis, or the dangerous signs of eclampsia? Is that pup sleeping or is it sluggish?
I keep my concerns away from Maddie, and she seems to buy into my studied relaxed and calm demeanor, but it's a good thing she isn't paying too much attention to me. She gets very hopeful when I walk in the room - "are you bringing food?!!" but she has other things on her mind.
But despite my constant checking, the pups are fine, fine, fine. They are healthy and hungry, crawling around on their wobbly legs, even little Pekoe, (in the photo above), who, after three nights of careful supplementing every three hours, is now nursing on her own and gaining weight.
Of course they are fine, says Maddie, they are my pups, and I know how to look after them.
Of course she does.
