Theta Beta, 30" x 40", Silkscreen. This print is a unique type for me. It reflects my time when I was working for a well known publisher in the science, medical division. Many of the books that are published by this company are fantastic, and certainly in the division I worked the people work with great professionalism and are so nice. Except, that some of the science protocols deal with vivisection, to the extreme. I realize under the first amemdment it is necessary to print all kinds of work, but vivisection is wrong morally and scientifically. Please read up on vivisection. There are many wonderful sites to explore this topic. I will update this section to include sites discussing vivisection. The print itself deals with the sameness and differences between primates and humans that is reflected in the images of bones, the poem theta beta reflects my feelings about the vivisection. Everything is discussed by formula there is no emotion. After all the equations are set up scientifically you may even forget that the test subject is put to death. What was equally interesting to me was the greek letters used in the scientific notations and I felt the letters were beautiful and reflected certain death for the test subjects. I detest vivisection and believe it is the lowest form of scientific inquiry. Why must another sentient being be tortured to death? Science is suppose to elevate us. In case you can not see poem on print, it goes like this: Theta beta delta pi then i die, theta beta delta pi then i die. Very simple and directly stated don't you think? |
