DEATH: MARTIN BREDE Aged 84, of 2431 Fifth avenue, retired employe of the Altoona works, died at his home at 2.40 o'clock yesterday afternoon after two weeks' illness. He was born in Besse, Hesse-Kassel, Germany, on Sept. 12, 1853, and came to this country and to Altoona in 1871, residing her since. Mr. Brede was a stonecutter by trade and worked on the erection of St. Luke's Episcopal and St. John's Catholic churches before entering the service of the railroad company on Jan. 3, 1883. He retired from the shops on May 1, 1919, with a service record of thirty-six years as a boiler-maker. His wife, Mrs. Frances (Bumgartner) Brede, died twenty-one years ago. Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Henry and Edward Brede of the city, Frank of Pittsburgh and Miss Helen F. Brede, with whom he resided; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Brede was the last member of his immediate family. He was a member of St. James Lutheran church throughout his residence in the city. DEATH: BREDE - Funeral services for Martin Brede of 2431 5th Ave. will be held at 2.30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home by Rev. J.F. Flegler of St. James Lutheran church. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery. The body may be viewed at the home.

Died at her home, 827 First Avenue at 6:45 o'clock last evening after a lingering illness of a complication of diseases. She was born in Germany on April 31, 1860, and has been a resident of Altoona since 1881. She was married in 1883, to Adam H. Brede who survives, as do the following children: Charles A., margaret, Bertha, Mrs. Joe Bender, Mrs. Robert Richardson, all of this city. One sister, Emiline Roscelle, of Mays Landing. N. J., also survives. Mrs. Brede was amember of St. James' German Lutheran church.
