The Civil War Diary of John L. Foster

I don't know how my grandmother came into possession of this diary, since it didn't belong to anyone in our family. It was written by a friend of her grandfather, a Union soldier from New York. It is a very interesting look at the life of a soldier during the Civil War. I have retyped it to be read here, or you can download a text version.
