The Sky Was Ablaze On that very day the sky was ablaze. From all the dirt and soot all you could see was a haze. Everyone was in a panic. Running and screaming, Praying they were dreaming. When the first tower fell to the ground, There was a hushed silence from all around. Everyone prayed on that day, And hoped god would take it all away. Everyone was affected in some way. If they didnt loose family, They lost friends. We grew up thinking America was the strongest, And that nothing could touch us, That we were invisible to pain. Now we are a pawn in a sick, sick game. Because of one man. We are now scared to live on our land, We are scared to fly. Afraid we are going to die. Every night when we go home, We hug our family, and pet our dog. We are a closer nation because of the day the sky was ablaze. We are still suffering in our minds, but mainly our hearts. We have all tried to make new starts. But the pain is still there, All to fresh, And all to real. But we are AMERICANS. We shall cope and deal. He will have to live with what he has done every day of his life. And I hope it haunts him in the darkness of his sleep. He took as much as he could, But we still have so much to keep. Always remember the day the sky was ablaze. Maybe now we won't let our minds and hearts get covered in a haze. |
