Poems by Terri Lyn Stansfield
Crossing Paths
Each day on my run
I see you there
Enjoying the sun
Without a care
You nod as I pass
I do the same
But no more than that
Like some child's game
I always look back
I have to see
If you are still there
Looking at me
And you always are
Yes, every time
You're looking my way
Your eyes meet mine
And I fight the urge
To turn around
To see if we have
Some common ground
Then when I get home
I think of you
And wish that I had
Just carried through
So today I plan
To do just that
To at least say hi
Perhaps to chat
You're in the same place
And as I near
I slow to a walk
My intent clear
You rise to meet me
I stop and smile
You ask me to sit
And talk a while
The hours fly by
And we both know
That we're in love
At last, and so
We leave together
Each thankful for
Crossing paths and love
Forever more

Facing Infinity
I will go with you to the very edge
of infinity
And stand with you at the brink of forever
And not be afraid of what lies ahead
Certain in the knowledge that we will face it together
Knowing, without doubt, that our bond will last
Unafraid of what eternity might hold
Because, whatever else there may be
I know there will be you, and that's paradise to me

How Deep Is Your Beauty?
You are out of my league
No, I don't stand a chance
But you sure caught my eye
With that smoldering glance
With that model's physique
And those Hollywood looks
You could have anyone
Yeah, you've sure got the goods
But you're looking my way
For some unknown reason
I know I'm no beauty
Though my looks are pleasing
But what are you thinking
Are you callously cool
Thinking I'm gullible
Or some simplistic fool
Or perhaps your beauty
Goes much more than skin deep
And you're a nice person
Not an arrogant creep
You look awfully nice
Could it be that you're shy
Should I make the first move
Or sit patiently by
We've made eye contact now
The interest is there
Do we take the next step
And which one of us dares
You stand, and approach me
Wearing a sweet, shy smile
You ask if you can sit
And chat with me a while
I quickly acquiesce
And you sit next to me
And we begin to talk
And the hours just flee
Before we realize
Everyone else is gone
But we just cannot part
And we talk til the dawn
You proved just as handsome
On the inside, as well
You're sweet and you're funny
And I cede to your spell
And with the sun's rising
Things look awfully good
This feels like forever
Like I dreamed that it would
Yes, I think I'm in love
And I think you are, too
And I know that our love
Will be lasting and true

I Finally Found You
All my life I have searched for you
In the face of every stranger
In the arms of countless lovers
Occasionally catching a glimpse of heaven
Or a fleeting taste of ambrosia
Still it was only a hint of what could be
Just a tantalizing peek at paradise
Continually just beyond my grasp
But the promise of it always there
Now I hold the reality in my arms
Everything that came before disappears
And my life begins here, and now, with you

The Pusher
You lurk there in the darkness
With your nefarious intent
Searching for an innocent
All your desires twisted and bent
Should some unsuspecting soul
Blunder unknowingly, your way
You'd devour them completely
Then move on to your next luckless prey
You entice them with allure
Keep your motive always hidden
Then you draw them in until
They willingly do your bidding
And once they do, they're lost
Naivete unretrievable
They're depraved to a degree
That's almost unbelievable
One wrong turn that changed their lives
Set on a path to destruction
No turning back, no escape
Your claim on them a suction
That drains them of things humane
And leaves them just a ragged shell
Robbing them of a future
Making their lives a living hell
As you laugh your wicked laugh
So delighted at their downfall
You continue with your work
With no pangs of conscience at all
