STAGE SCENARIOS WERE GREAT ! Lets speak vewy vewy sofwey and thank Texas Jack Daniels foe some really great stages at the June shoot. Everyone I spoke to said that they really enjoyed them. For sure, stages two and three made you aware of how much you didn’t know about the guns that other hombres shoot. Everybody should take a whack at writing stages. Its fun, but not necessarily as easy as one might think. You have to think about gun saftey, movement, target arrangement, saftey, number of rounds, safety and a lot of other stuff like ‘ is it interesting’. We will always looking for volunteers to write stages. If you write some and someone else already has too-never fear-we can save them til another shoot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOCAL COWBOY SHOOT

TAKEN OVER BY RED SHIRT GANG It is obvious that we have a Red Shirt Gang amongst us. Seemed that all the Hombres had on red shirts and all the Hombrets had on their underwear. This was either very well planned or one heck of a coincidence. The Red Shirt Gang along with the ‘World Famous’ Magnificent Seven, may be having too much fun.

A SPECIAL THANKS !

I wish to personally thank one of our members for some really special help he has graciously been willing to provide when asked. Since our inception, every time that a new shooter has had to be ‘Qualified’ and given a little safety spiel, the same owlhoot has been asked to do the honors. Thanks Loranzo !

NEWS ABOUT FELLOW CLUBMEMBERS And Another Club

I think that most of you know who Mom and Valdez are. They are Texas Regulators and Valdez is the person that made it possible for us to have the stand alone type targets that we have. You also probably know that they have a CAS club called the Brazos Valley Desperadoes. They host their shoot on the second Sunday of the month. If you own a big bore rifle and want to shoot at stuff far, far away – they do that on the second Saturday. It’s a fun place and we need to support their club as they support ours. Directions are – take hwy 6 past Bryan towards Hearne, Tx.- 6 miles south of Hearne, turn right on FM 2549. Go about 2 miles and turn right on Jackrabbit Road. Go to second gate on right and turn in. I might add that they also have a relaxed summer dress code. From the Woodlands it is about an hour and a half trip. Come on up !!!

The Texas Regulators grew in the month of June.

New Members are:

Bill Bevers aka Pecos Bill

Welcome ! RATON NEW MEXICO THE OWSA

You all probably heard us talking about our trip to the OWSA in Raton, New Mexico. Every year that we go, the weather is a little bit different. One year its cold, next year its wet, next year its dry, next year its warm-but no matter the weather-its always a hoot. It takes place at The Whittington Center which is a humoungous absolutely gorgeous piece of real estate about 12 miles west of Raton, New Mexico. You will shoot 8 stages a day for 4 days and then if you wish-participate in team shoots, state shooting contest etc on Friday. There are motels in town with reasonable rates, camp grounds for tents or campers and several types of competitors housing on the property. It will be the most inexpensive shoot you will ever attend. Texas Regulators did really well this year. There are no 2nd place winners, only first.

DUTY OF A POSSE MEMBER

Lets remember that being a Posse member has a few obligations. Ask what you can do to help your posse. Volunteer to help. Persons that load, shoot, unload and then go sit down are not good posse members. Don’t make your fellow shooters have to ask you for help. If you are not a helper then don’t be surprised that when your turn to shoot comes, no one offers to pick up your brass etc.

The Texas Regulators grew by four hombres this past month.

Glenn Urbanek aka Charles Goodnight

James Koenig aka Whiskey

Emil Allen aka Indigo Black

Ron Blaschke aka Durango Kid

We are sure glad to have you!
