Mike Fleming, SVOOA Technical Director, answered this question:
All EFI Fords from '84-86 use the same fuel filter with push-on connectors with plastic retaining clips--available just about anywhere. All replacement filters come with two replacement clips so make sure the new ones are installed.
On the dual-pump models (1984-1985-mid year) the filter is mounted on the same bracket that mounts the high-pressure fuel pump inside the right rear chassis rail under the right rear passenger seat (beneath the car). You will need an 8mm socket to remove the old one.
Later SVOs (ones with only the in-tank fuel pump) are mounted towards the upper part of the hump on the right rear of the chassis.
Recommended intervals of change are at each 30,000 miles. Performance problems would be related to insufficient fuel flow. If you use fuel that has lots of "crud" in it, change it more often.
