"God Bless My Family" 3/93
God bless my son, for he thinks he knows it all;
maybe he can take over, and make all my calls.
He is now at the "age" I have never been;
a father born at forty-eight, I'm his kin.
God bless my daughter, may she live her life;
find a career or make someone a good wife.
I wish I could somehow get through to her brain;
at twenty-one she should party less and train.
God bless my wife, who thinks life is forever;
watch your weight and take care, that's clever.
Life is not forever and soon we all will get old;
not watching your health, will leave you out in the cold.
Finally, God bless me, for I too know it all;
working, where brainless people make the calls.
Maybe God with your help, you can look and lead;
I can leave here tomorrow, if you would intercede.
As you can see God, we sure can use your aid;
for we are in this quandary, we all have made.
There will be sound sleep and less father's tears;
if you can just watch and bless our next few years.
