HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FRIEND, 10/99

Hope this day is a special one, for you do deserve it;
even if the two of us, as a married couple, no longer fit.
Happy birthday to my FRIEND of over thirty-three years;
we’ve been through much love, struggle and now tears.

‘F’ in friend stands for the Faith that I have in you;
I believe and trust you in whatever you say or do.
‘R’ in friend stands for the Respect for our space;
we have different situations that we now must face.
‘I’ in friend stands for Individuals that we both are;
I now see that we can’t always finish what we start.
‘E’ in friend stands for Eager, I am ready to go;
just call and I will be there to help against any foe.
‘N’ in friend stands for Needs, different sides of the line;
hope this you can see they are not the same at this time,.
‘D’ in friend stands for Desire, for this is what I need;
to seek out my personal ego, release the ties, and be free.

I plan to be your FRIEND forever if that’s ok with you;
You may need my advice, support, in whatever you do!
I too would welcome to have your input, now and then;
Won’t you agree with your advice, if I ask will you send?

No one knows what the future holds for us or for others;
I now need to flex my wings, without being mothered.
So happy birthday, may God bless you and keep you strong;
as our family breaks into the traditional birthday song.
