History of the Hockey History List

August 13, 1999 marked the list's 1 year anniversary.

In this year, we have grown from one member (me) to 168.

Let me run down this list's history.

For a while I had felt isolated from other people doing hockey research.
I joined SIHR, but it never filled the void since I didn't get a
membership list.

Last summer (1988), I began my own informal survey of people I had been in
contact with over the web. I talked to Paul, Ralph, James, ect. They all
thought they would like to be a part of such a list. So in August of
last year, I set up the list with my ISP.

In the mean time, Thomas Robert Mueller proposed starting our own
research organization. Around November, the HRA was informally formed.
Thomas disappeared from the list shortly after, and our informal
organization went dormant.

In February, due to some service inadequacies with my ISP,  I switched the
list to One List where it has been since.

Around March, Marc Foster took a hold of the HRA torch. From his efforts
we got our own Domain Name (www.hockeyresearch.com) and he created the
website.

Since then we have been published in the Toronto Star.

So that's the history of our list after it's first year. I hope you
enjoyed.
