Palacios - There are several ramps in this small sleepy town.
Near the Luther Hotel and Moonlight Bay B&B is a good public ramp, wide enough for two boats and parking is good and lighted. The ramp faces south so the winds can make launching your boat tricky. The short channel into Tres Palacios Bay is shallow. There is a small cove with oyster shells that is part of the channel. Next to the ramp is a beach.
Another good ramp is at Turning Basin #3. You get there by continuing out Texas 35 to an RV park. Follow the curving road until you approach the entrance to the RV park, then turn left into the parking area for the ramp. The ramp is steep, but not too much for a small car to pull out a Potter. The area is sheltered and is used by the fishing fleet. Once in the water turn right. The channel markers for the Palacios Channel start at the turning basin entrance. The markers flash at night. The Serendipity Marina is located at Turning Basin #1. It has docking and camping facilities and a near-by grocery store. There are also showers and microwaves for cooking. A very good facility for an extended stay.
