I enjoy my Music, I enjoy my Books.
I am into arts and crafts type things (not glue and sticks in kindergarten type crafts). I enjoy metal working, cross-stitching, needlepoint, and bead stringing. I do not however like "Art"... the kind of art you go to NYC to see at some stuffy gallery. A big dot on a canvas is not "Interesting", nor does it "Make you think..", and it's certainly not worth millions of dollars. I'm into functional 'art'. Body Art too... but thats a whole other matter.
My current employer is Jo Ann ETC in Manchester, CT. Showcase Cinema accused me of stealing/losing money so I QUIT about a month ago. See... I don't think I did anything wrong... If your register is off by $10, over or under, you get a write up. After 4 write ups you are elligible for termination. I knew I had a few write ups. When $9,000+ goes through your hands in a day there has to be some margin for error. One busy saturday in August there was a dispute over whether or not I gave a lady her change back. One minor manager went through my register and counted it out haphazardly while she watched and he told me I was off by that amount. She got her change and left. I did not get to verify the register counting since he did it so messily. At the end of my shift the head manager said I was off by about $12. He brought out a pile of write ups that were mine and said that if they did not find the missing money in the safe when they count it at the top of the hour, then I'll be fired. He even offered to let me hang around until then, yeah, get some popcorn and a soda and wait for the news, sounds like a plan!!! Why wait? I had enough write ups to be terminated next time, and there would be a next time: the registers at SC are really old and blink out frequently and count the money wrong. I worked at Sam's Club for 3 months. More money would go through my hands there in a 4 hour day than I would have had in an 8 hour day at SC. I was off ONE TIME in that 3 month period and that was a day that a "supervisor" was using my register while I was on break = not my fault. I just quit right then. I just spoke to one of my ex-coworkers a while ago and she says that they haven't really started hiring at SC. So many people have left for college. Hehehe, they are screwed.
