TRANSFORMERS:
Robots in Disguise
Episode 2.
AN
EXPLOSIVE SITUATION
A
flatbed truck is carrying a power cell when what appears to be a
shark’s dorsel fin erupts from the road behind them. A dozing
co-driver looks in his rear view mirror and sees the object, he
comments about it to the driver who recommends he go back to
sleep until he looks through his window and notices the same
thing himself, he cries out in shock as a large metallic shark
jumps from the roadway as if it where water and starts taking
large bites out of the trailer, the truck’s cab speeds away
from the shark and what’s left of the trailer as the beast
bites into the power cell’s casing. The shark comments that
the cell was barely a snack and heads off in search of more
energy.
Koji
receives an alert from Prime that there is a Predacon alert
coming from a block north of his house, he runs out his door and
down the road, telling the Autobot commander that he is on his
way; at that moment, however, Optimus Prime – in vehicle mode
– comes from behind and breaks next to him, apologising but
emphasising the need for haste. Optimus races away with Koji in
the passenger seat. The boy comments that Optimus must be
running on Jet fuel and Optimus tells him that he’ll explain
when they arrive. Koji is confused all the more when the road
below them opens up and the fire truck disappears into an
underground base.
They
arrive at a command centre and Koji asks what it is, Optimus
explains that it is Cybertron Base, the Autobot headquarters on
earth, he goes on to explain that the whole system is run by a
pro-active cybernetic interface program, represented by the
holographic entity T.A.I., T.A.I appears and introduces himself
to Koji, who, in an effort to shake her hand, falls through her.
She explains that she is a hologram used by the Autobots to
watch for possible Predacon attacks worldwide.
Optimus
asks Koji to look at the monitors, where several images of truck
wreckages are displayed. Optimus informs him that over 200
individual incidents of this kind have occurred, and in each
case the battery of the vehicle was stolen. Koji asks who was
responsible and Prime tells him that the Predacons are trying to
gather as much energy as possible. Koji asks if prime can stop
them, and Prime informs him that although they have tried, the
attacker is long gone before any support can arrive. T.A.I.
informs the boy that the Autobot car brothers have been
patrolling for mega cycles trying to find those responsible.
Sideburn
zooms down a highway, chasing after yet another little red
sports car. The driver inside the car becomes irate at what she
perceives to be her fellow driver and speeds off, much to
sideburn’s disappointment. Behind him Prowl’s sirens sound,
the police vehicle pulls up beside his brother and informs him
that he is on duty, and he should stick to his job instead of
chasing cars. Sideburn retorts that he isn’t the only one
enjoying himself and shows an image of a telephone receiver
station. Prowl explains that he is climbing it to get a better
view of the city.
X-Brawn
laments that the large towed doesn’t have a freight elevator,
and warns his brother that he will be expecting a new set of
shock absorbers when the mission is finished. Prowl tells him
there is nothing to worry about and sideburn tells Prowl that he
needs to loosen up, the two speed off into the distance arguing.
Below
water in the Predacon’s underground command center, Megatron
is thinking aloud that he needs more energy to move the ship in
order to prevent the Autobots from finding it. He curses the
Autobots for interfering, saying that if they weren’t there
it’d be easier for him to bleed the planet dry of energy and
rule the galaxy.
The
Predacon vermin return carrying a large sack; they say they’ve
found an enormous stash of energy. Megatron congratulates them
and asks how long it will take to turn the energy source into
energon cubes so that the ship can be moved. Dark Scream
explains that the energy is stored in small round canisters and
Gas Skunk elaborates by saying that they are used to power
flashlights and that they retrieved thousands of them, they
begin to pour the batteries onto the floor, laughing. One rolls
by Megatron’s leg, he seems unimpressed. The vermin gloat and
say that it will take a while to convert the energy source to
cubes, 3 weeks at most. Megatron silences them, telling them
that they need massive amounts of energy, not the punitive sum
they retrieved. Slapper apologises, saying that is the best they
could find. Megatron screams that they have failed and converts
to his two-headed dragon mode, he asks Slapper if he really
thought the small quantities of energy they retrieved would be
enough to power the base, Slapper replies that he did, and
Megatron threatens to add their own power charges to the
converter.
A
voice is heard, telling Megatron that he is wasting his time
with them, and that a flashlight requires three batteries to
operate. Megatron commands Sky-Bite to show himself and the
Shark agrees, teleporting into the chamber. Dark Scream asks
Sky-Bite what he is doing in the command centre, the shark gives
him a look and the three vermin cower in a corner. Sky-Bite
transforms to his robot mode and tells Megatron that he has
brought the most powerful energy cell on earth, but as he
presents the offering he tells his commander that even this is
incapable of mobilising the command centre. Megatron expresses
his displeasure at the situation; Sky-Bite apologises but
informs him that he has a potential means of solving the
problem.
A
television report comes up on one of the monitors in the
Predacon base, saying that a certain type of red sports car is
being recalled because of terrorist reports that one of them
contains a high-energy bomb. Sky-Bite explains that the device
could be dismantled and the energy inside it harnessed to power
their fuel cells. Megatron states that retrieving the device is
their number 1 priority, Sky-Bite says that the only remaining
car that hasn’t been searched is being delivered to the metro
city complex, Megatron asks where it is at that moment, and
Sky-Bite responds by saying that it is being off-loaded at the
docks. The vermin begin to voice their doubts, but Megatron
silences them with a stamp of his taloned foot, then he puts
Sky-Bite in command of the retrieval mission.
The
last red XE-12 is unloaded and after some quick fawning, the
driver takes the car out of the docks area and onto the highway,
Sky-Bite is following, making plans and preparations for taking
the bomb, he intends to rip the car apart and take it.
The
car quickly attracts Sideburn’s attention and he starts to
follow in his usual flirting manner – much to the driver’s
annoyance. Sky-bite is surprised to see the Autobots arrive so
quickly and decides that he needs to activate his plan
immediately. Sideburn continues to flirt and the driver of the
red XE-12 sports car accelerates to get away, sideburn gives
chace but is halted by Prowl, who informs him that he is still
on duty. Sideburn replies that unlike his brother he knows how
to have fun and still do his job. Prowl tells him that duty is
it’s own reward.
The
XE-12 is being pursued by Sky-Bite and he leaps out at the car
from beneath the roadway. Prowl sees him and he uses his jet
boosters to intercept him. Transforming he faces down with
Sky-Bite who tells him to go away, and not to ignore the
warnings of a shark. Sideburn quickly joins his brother, which
infuriates the Predacon all the more. Sky-Bite starts after the
car but Prowl attacks, followed by Sideburn, Sky-Bite retaliates
with two shark missiles and forces the brothers to transform,
then continues after the car while they regroup.
Slapper,
Dark Scream and Gas Skunk catch up with the car and take hold of
it, Sky-Bite warns that any heavy knocks could set off the bomb,
he offers to take it to Megatron. Slapper replies that they
found it and they would take it in, then tells Dark Scream and
Gas Skunk to get going while he holds Sky-Bite off. Sky-Bite
simply runs through him and follows the other two villains.
Sky-Bite demands the car be given to him, but Gas Skunk hands
the car to Dark Scream who flies off with it. Sky-Bite follows
and grabs a hold of the car with his jaw, in the struggle the
car falls apart, Sky-Bite grabs the car, and the driver falls to
the ground to be caught by Sideburn, who laments the destruction
of the vehicle. He drops the girl in a fit of grief and Prowl is
forced to catch her, he inquires after the drivers condition and
she says that despite everything, she’s fine.
Sky-Bite
flies off with the device but is intercepted by X-Brawn, who
shoots his towing cable out to apprehend the device. The rough
handling when X-Brawn retracts his tow cable causes the bomb to
arm. Sky-Bite berates him for his stupidity and says that the
Autobot will have to return the bomb, since Sky-Bite is the only
one who can fly and hence save the city from being levelled in
the blast. X-Brawn doesn’t believe him, saying the Predacons
just want the energy contained in the device.
The
three vermin decide that things are going to get unhealthy in
that particular locality soon and evacuate, leaving Sky-Bite to
handle things himself. The car Brothers notice this and sideburn
says he’s got a bad feeling about the situation, Prowl agrees,
saying the bomb needs to be taken away from the city. Sideburn
tells X-Brawn to take the bomb as far away from the city as
possible, X-Brawn replies that he is in the middle of the city
and doesn’t have much time, he asks for suggestions on where
to take it. Prowl tells him to take the bomb to the top of the
highest structure around, X-Brawns spies the telephone tower and
heads for it, swinging from his tow line from building to
building with Sky-Bite behind him warning him to be careful.
Back
at Autobot headquarters, T.A.I. is telling Koji and Prime that
X-Brawn’s actions are dangerous, Koji asks where he is taking
the device and how tall it is, T.A.I. informs him that it is 500
feet high and Koji replies that it is not high enough.
X-Brawn
continues to scale the tower with Sky-Bite telling him that the
height of the tower is insufficient to keep the bomb from
levelling the city, Koji agrees and prime adds that X-Brawn is
fast running out of power. Koji tells them that he’s going to
have to take the bomb into the stratosphere to avoid damaging
the city; causing Prime to think of a plan. He tells X-Brawn to
hold his position and that he will be there soon, He transforms
and drives away with his sirens blaring.
X-Brawn
stops high on the radio tower, exhausted. Sky-Bite renews his
advance as Prime arrives and transforms. He greets the Predacon,
who tells him that there is nothing he can do to stop the bomb
from destroying the city, but Optimus voices his disagreement
and transforms into battle mode – his optimal robotic form. He
tells X-Brawn to transform and throw the bomb as high up as
possible – X-Brawn does so but Sky-Bite gives chace. Prime
locks onto the bomb with his cannon and fires a power stream at
it, hitting both it and Sky-Bite and sending them into space.
The coldness of space and the water from the cannon start to
freeze Sky-Bite immediately, he sees the bomb and tries to catch
up to it, vowing to be as gentle as possible so as not to set it
off when he grabs it with his jaw, he grabs the bomb but it
detonates. Optimus congratulates and thanks Koji on the
successfulness of his plan.
Dark
Scream, Gas Skunk and Slapper are spying on Sky-Bite outside his
quarters. The Predacon is reading Shakespeare, trying to
understand human nature in order to convince humanity to give
the Predacons their energy supply. Sky-Bite insists that the
writings are illogical, but continues to pours over the prose.
Slapper tells his comrades that the plan will fail, Dark Scream
agrees, saying that humans are all crazy. They continue to
watch, laughing.
