Sagoth, Quarren Mystic

Sagoth:

It a young age, the mystics of the great deep, the ordainers of the ancesteral spirits search out those few with special gifts, the ones that are sensitive to the minds and feelings of others. "They came when the Cla'thuu stream turned warm in the spring, when only the red moon turned the waters slightly amber colored. Sagoths parents was emskass, the lowest of the lowest, criminals..they could say nothing when the mystics came in procession, gliding soundlessly through the deep waters carrying bak'class the sacred glowstones. They took the child from his parents arms and took him away to teach him the mysteries of the deep sea."

Sagoth grew up, trained by the mystics, going through rites of dehydration, resting among the beast of the sea and was taught the secrets of moving without beeing seen, heard or noticed by the great seamonsters that guard the deepest caverns of their world and the most holy places. He impressed his teatchers with his ability to see into the minds of others, with the speed he entered the mysteries of the religion and that he survived the
training with the recklessness he displayed. "The baakathkless rested peacefully, its senses on alert for any possible food, each of its fangs longer then a grown Quarren. Onto one of these fangs Sagoth tied a small bak'class on a leather string, then soundlessly moved away from the huge monster. The monster would soon travel north into colder waters as the streams changed, and he would carry with him a light to shine the way. The ancestors would have been proud, Sagoth thought as he slowly slipped down the coral reef into the dark area below. Once under the outcropping he could swim faster without sending alerting vibrations through the water to arouse the great beast."

For Sagoth, the teatchings of the mystics was revelations and stability, all at once. He would be taught how to show reverence for the great sea, how to nurture it and to care of the ancestoral spirits. "But it was only a small leak in the cooling system, the young Mon Calamari screamed, his voice echoing through the waters. You cannot judge me, I am to be judged by my own people! he continued. The Quarren holding him turned to the young mystic, still not with the blue mark on his forehead. Sagoth turned unforgiving eyes towards the young Mon Calamari, knowing well his thoughts, knowing that the sacralige had been done by pure lazyness. You have faulted against the sea, the sea will judge you! he wispered Take him to the gap of Uhna'less, tie him to stone and drop him, the sea and its creatures will judge this offender! The young Mon Calamari still begged high-pitched for mercy as the loyal Quarren dragged him away."

Soon after he recieved the blue mark, Sagoth started to recieve visions, urging him away, far away into the stars. He went to the grand master of the Quarren mystics announcing his leave, he would travel with an Ithorian vessel that had wellcomed him as a passenger. "The old man stared harshly at Sagoth, his mind examining Sagoths, staring at his fears and hopes, his fear and his reasons. He spoke with his mind alone to Sagoth : But you have only worn the blue mark for thirty years, you are so young, yet so determined. It is the first time one of us has left the deep-sea to walk among the stars in those ships the Mon Calamari is so delighted in. But I give you my blessing, remember that any where you go, you will hear the calls of the sea and the voices of the ancestors, it is what binds us together and is the essence of the living world, they will never leave you. Go my child, and come back when you have found out what the most holy ancestors want you to do far away, among the stars. Before he left, his lover since several years came to him and they went through the Back'ma'kess, the ritual of beeing together for ever. After gentle lovemaking, she took her life with the poison of the ayiba fish, and he drank her blood straight from her heart to forever carry her spirit with him."
