He comes from a family of mechanics and racers. They spent their days traveling across the outer rim involved in illegal pod racing, and starship modifications. Zirin's talents included repairs and customizing and tricking out ships and pods. When he made his saber, he made it look as it does as a way to remind himself where he came from.

He's usually in an aloof, distant sort of mood and though he is a jedi he has a short temper. But also prone to bouts of depression over the loss of a woman he was in love with - despite the code. He wears a small silver ring on a chain around his neck.
