Shanna Toarinar was the sole child of farmers Gaff Wincher and Liselle Toarinar from the planet Theiouree, at the outskirts of the Enteague Sector. Because her mother was from a matriarchal society, Shanna was given her mother's family name.

Once upon a time, stormtroopers came to their farm at night. After hiding little Shanna, her parents confronted the Imperials who for some reason or other shot the farmers in cold blood. The six year old Shanna came out of hiding some time later to dead parents and a burnt down farm.

She became a loner and learned all the skills required to become a bounty hunter. When she was ready, she clad herself in black fatigues and armor, and began hunting. But she only collected bounties on Imperial targets, and none other.

A chance encounter with Drew Greyhelm on Tierfon led her to join the Strikeforce Enteague. During her missions with the Strikeforce, Shanna had many adventures. She was one of the force sensitive ones who had the encounter with the fallen Jedi Trace Traverse in the pocket universe world of Zarligrenor.

Once, she stole Zardra's favorite stun cloak which Zardra tried to recover by setting elaborate traps. She also made an enemy of Jodo Kast, the Boba Fett look-alike after an encounter on Tatooine. She took a young kid, Alysia A'kazz under her wing, and was the best of friends with Ben One-Howel.

But there was no enemy more deadly than the Twi'lek assassin Dik Foranay who caused the death of her team mate Dorniekke Nels. Prior to the Battle of Endor, Shanna was poisoned by Jodo Kast. The only antidote was with Foranay, who awaited her on the surface of Endor. She arrived with Xepheer Xeneeth the Nagai hit man, dying and weakened by the poison. Foranay rode an AT-ST which scored hits on both Shanna & Xepheer. But before Foranay could deliver the killing blow, Shanna used the Force to desensitize herself to pain, aimed and fired a shot that pierced Foranay's skull. Xepheer administered the recovered antidote to her, saving her life.

Much later, five years after the death of Drew Greyhelm and during Thrawn's Campaign, Shanna discovered the reason for her test on Zarligrenor: to be the first line of defense against the return of the Dark Jedi Herroth Rax. Herroth Rax was trapped without a physical form in a pocket universe and had gathered enough energy to return to the normal universe. Shanna, Phoenix Avalon, Ham Slacker and Qore Cenvax joined forces to successfully defeat the Dark Side spirit.

Shanna belonged to the Toarinar lineage of Force sensitive warrior women. Her mother Liselle was a mercenary who retired to build a family. Her grandmother Kym was part of a task force to stop Herroth Rax's attack a hundred years before. Great-grandmother Sela had been Trace Traverse's Padawan before she was killed in battle.

After the fall of the Empire, Shanna returned to Theiouree to help rebuild the shattered world and became Theiouree's Administrator or Security.

Then, a Sith Adept known as Kuar Davast appeared out of nowhere wanting to kill her so he can be a new Dark Lord by the name Darth Rage...
