Horsekeeping Tips |
![]() |
It's almost that time of year again! Winter is steadily approaching, and you need to prep for winter. Here are some tips: 1. Keep horses blanketed during wintertime, unless they have a substantial winter coat. 2. Check water to make sure that it isn't freezing over adn preventing your horse from drinking. Fill up bucket half-way with hot water, and the other half with cool water, to prevent and slow down the freezing process. 3. To keep coats short, turn on lights during the nighttime. 4. Don't work your horse when the temperatures get below 40 degrees. If a horse gets worked hard, and then suddenly cooled down in that type of weather, you risk tying up and your horse catching a cold. |
