What is a Marauder you ask?

How was the nickname Marauders conceived?

When the PSFL awarded the Massachusetts franchise it was decided that the team would like a nickname to reflect the history of the area that would strike fear into the hearts of the other franchises in the PSFL. Debate raged on for weeks in the front office.

The Marauders were a band of Massachusetts Colonial farmers involved in the fight for Independence of this great Country. Known for their "unorthodox" battle tactics, the Marauders struck from the shadows and disappeared as quickly as they emerged. While there is no official record of these men in the history books their legend grew throughout the state. Much like the group portrayed in the Mel Gibson movie "The Patriot".

The Marauders who often dressed in black during the nighttime attacks also inspired the black and silver uniform designed. This group also used muskets with silver handles in order to identify each other.
