The Toys

The Transformers: Armada toys first appeared in the summer of 2002, and are currently selling well, according to Hasbro. While Robots in Disguise marches on as a line of store exclusives, Armada has become the main line of toys. I have pictures of and list all toys that are currently available, and what can be expected from future waves of toys.

There are several size classes of Armada toys, much like with BW, BM, and RiD. But more simply, there are really only two ways to buy Armada toys: in Minicon 3-packs, and larger figures that come with Minicons. It also includes the new lego-like Built to Rule sub-line, which is scheduled to be released eventually.

Gift Sets

Several gift sets have been/are to be released under the Micron Legend banner. They are: Hot Rod w/ the Air Defense Team; Grap w/ the Race Team; Ironhide w/ the Land Military Team; Cyclonus w/ the Destruction Team; Blurr w/ the Street Speed Team; Thrust w/ the Air Military Team; Rampage w/ Air Defense Team Air Assault Edition; and Super Mode Grap w/ Adventure team.

CD/DVD Exclusives

The Air Defense Team was released in a clear blue color scheme along with the CD version of the Micron Legend Opening Theme, Neverending Road. Likewise, the Street Action team was released with show-accurate paint jobs along with the CD for Dream Again, the closing theme. Later, the Streed Speed team would repainted into the Super Stunt Team (Flatout, Redline and Servo)and released with Volume 1 of the Micron Legend DVD. Volume 2 came with Top Gear, a repaint of Minicon Mirage and first of the Speed Chaser team. Volumes 3 and 4 contain Midshift (Dirt Boss) and Tail Slide (Downshift), the final members of said team. They combine into a starship called Magnawing. Volume 5 contains a repaint of the Air Military Team member Terradive, as Falcia, the first female Minicon. Volume 6 includes a female repaint of Gunbarrel, named Combusta. It is rumored that the Destruction Team has a CD or DVD repaint awaiting it.

Other Exclusives

Several Microns/Minicons have been released as store/convention exclusives. These include the Land Military Team (Bonecrusher: blue, Knockout: green, Wreckage: Brown and blue), the Streed Speed Team (Oval: red, Spiral: white, Backtrack: black), and the Destruction Team (brown, beige, and orange). The Road Assault version of the Race Team jas been released packed with Micron Legend Jetfires.

Megatron and Barrel were released as a lottery exclusive as "Black Megatron and Barrel"... simply put, they're black and green now. The next lottery exclusive will be "Ice Ultra Magnus", a blue repaint of Ultra Magnus, the Micron Legend version of Overload. Mailway items include Scourge, a black repaint of Supercon Convoy, and Crystal Convoy, a clear version of the same mold. Scourge comes with an OverRun repaint, and Convoy comes with a clear OverRun named SparkSurge.

The Destruction Team was released in a "Space Galaxy" (black and beige colored) edition along with Convoy Super Mode (and they neglected to actually show customers which ones they were getting...). Also, the Destruction team was released unpainted as part of a "paint your own Micron" contest... it is rumored that Takara will release the winning color scheme. The winner also gets the US version of Shockwave/Tidalwave.

Prime, Convoy's Minicon, was released in a green color scheme through a magazine. Also, a company called Kabaya released candy pack-in versions of the Air Defense and Street Action teams. I'm not sure if it's the same company, but more candy pack-ins are scheduled, with repaints of Sparkplug/Prime named Rod and Atlas, along with "metallic" versions of the Race Team, and the Air Defense Team.

Other

The Micron Legend toys have some color-related differances when compared to their US versions. These are usually not notable, except in the case of Shockwave, Rampage, and Grap Super Mode. Shockwave is the most radical, in that he possesses a mostly show accurate purple and black color-scheme, while Tidal Wave bears dark gray, green, and purple. Rampage lacks all of Wheeljack's yellow, and has some blue. And finally, Grap Super mode is red, where his American counterpart, Hoist, is orange.
