Dear Ms. Helms.

I am the new President of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) civil rights organization, and I am writing to applaud the incredible work you are doing at the Transgender American Veterans Association. Specifically, the upcoming Transgender Veterans March to the Wall has great potential to educate America about the important contributions that transgender veterans have made to this nation.

As you are aware, this historic occasion will not only serve to honor the many transgender veterans who have face reprehensible discrimination from the U.S. military, but it will also serve to raise awareness for the need to honor all of our veterans - including the many brave gay, lesbian, bbisexual and transgender service members who have served this nation proudly.

Furthermore, I hope this occasion also serves as a learning tool for the many gay, lesbian and bisexual members of our community who still know too little about their transgender brothers and sisters. I sincerely appreciate the work you're doing and wish you the best of luck with the upcoming march.

Sincerely
