I have now broken a total of three of these eye bolts. Including a stainless steel bolt. As any good engineer would tell you, using an eye bolt in this manner is not good engineering practice. This is due to the bolt being loaded in a bending moment and not in a tensile manner as a bolt is designed and is the strongest.
I have designed a much better way
of distributing the load produced by the massive amount of torque this
engine is capable of. I do not have it all drawn up yet, I am trying
to concentrate on my job search at the present time...
Hopefully soon.
