PI VERSION: 10 (suitable for other versions

LEVEL: Intermediate

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Open new white canvas 500Wx500H. We will resize later.

2. Path Drawing Tool - 2d - shape - elipse - color 008000 (green) - draw a shape on your canvas approx 180 x 160. Rotate counterclockwise 15 degrees..

3. Path Drawing Tool - 2d - custom shape B25 - same color - draw shape approx 90 x 93. Right click, duplicate, flip vertically. Keep selected, right click, convert object type from Text/Path to Imae, grab your eraser and erase top 2 side pieces as shown. Select both pieces and merge as single object. Rotate counterclockwise 15 degrees and attach to bottom of arm - select arm and "hand" and merge as single object. Right click, duplicate, flip horizontally and place on other side, extended out a little farther.

4. Back Legs - I duplicated left front leg - use Transform Tool with lock "off" and resized to about 120 x 154. Right click, arrange and send to back. Duplicate this piece, flip horizontally, place on other side, arrange and send to back.

5. Head - Path Drawing Tool - 2d - shape elipse - same color - draw shape approx 216 x 166. Rotate 20 degrees counterclockwose.

6. Eyes - Path Drawing Tool - 2d - shape elipse - same color - draw shape approx 84 x 92. Draw another elipse with color white approx 43 x 40 and another elipse with color black approx 34 x 35. Put all pieces of eye together and merge as single object. Right click and duplicate - rotate 10 degrees counterclockwise - move one to left side. You can right click select all objects and merge as single object now if you want and be sure to resize now down to a workable size for the tongue and the animation shop if you want to animate. If you wish, you can also go up to Photo - Noise - Add Noise, click on options and select varied, around 5 or 6 and click mono.

7. Mouth - Line & Arrow Tool - I used spline - (can draw it freehand if you wish) - color black - width 1 - draw aline across for the mouth top and the mouth bottom.

8. Tongue - Path Drawing Tool - Custom Shape R45 - color FFA4A4 - draw a shape approx 270 x 30 or length that compliments the size you made your frog. Refer to my picture to see how long the tongue is. Flip horizontally and rotate 15 degrees clockwise. I used the Transform Tool perspective and narrowed the one end that went into the mouth a little. Zoom in to about 300 percent and erase (size 3) part of tongue that overlaps upper mouth and part overlapping bottom lip line. Go the Photo - Noise, add noise, click on options, and choose varied, 6 or 7 and click mono.

9. Shading - Airbrush - size around 40 - trans 30 - soft edge 50 - color black - I sprayed around and up around creases of legs and such as shown in pic. Be sure to do this in MODE. When you click out of mode, use your layer manager to select all objects EXCEPT THE TONGUE, and merge as single object.

   HAVE FUN!!! - YOU'RE DONE!!! I hope you enjoyed this tut! If you want to animate, read further!

10. ANIMATION: Duplicate the tongue - Use Transform Tool - Distort and pull in top left node as shown. Duplicate this piece, use resize tool with unlock "off" and shorten the tongue, using distort or slant even as needed to keep the bottom part as close to the original shape as you can. Duplicate this last piece again and shorten and slant. You should have a total of 4 tongues! Use your Path Drawing Tool, shape S08 in various shades of pinks or reds and draw different sizes of hearts and merge together. Place on your canvas at the farthest point from the longest tongue. Refer to picture. Okay, use your layer manager now to finish the rest. As shown in my picture, ALL the eyes have been clicked off EXCEPT for the frog and the hearts. Save this somewhere you know on your hardrive, make a folder called froggie or something and call it frog1.ufo.
11. Next, you will click on the eye of the shortest tongue so that it is visible and save this as frog2.ufo. Hide that tongue and click on the eye of the next tongue, and save that picture as frog3.ufo. Hide that one, click on the eye of the next one and save as frog4.ufo. Hide that one and click on the eye of the last tongue and save as frog5.ufo. You should have five frames now saved. Open up your Gif Animator. Now I'm not efficient in this program, was just playing, and I'm sure there is a much easier or quicker way to do this, and if you know, feel free to do this, but this is the way I did it and if you are a newbie at it like me, follow along! LOL

12. Animation Wizard comes up - choose it - put in your size of your canvas that you saved - click next - click on add image, browse to where you saved your ufo files and hold your ctrl key and select all files so they will show up in the window. Now the last number one will be first, so just click on it and drag it to the bottom. Click next, we will change this later, so click next, click finish. You will see all your frames show up.

13. Right click on your 5th frame and duplicate it, the duplicated one is now the 6th frame. Now select frames 5, 4,3,2 and 1, duplicate, they are now frames 6,7,8,9 and 10. Right click and reverse frame order, reverse selected frames. You now have 11 frames. Delete frame 11. We don't need it.

14. Okay, on frame 7, select it and we are going to move the hearts down towards the tongue as shown. Frame 8, you will do the same, move the hearts down to the tongue. Ditto for Frame 9. Almost done!!!

15. Now, select the first 5 frames, right click, frame properties, change to 15. 6th frame, change to 20. Frames 7,8,and 9 change to 15. And the last frame, change to 25. Preview your animation and if you like it, save it and you're DONE!!!
