MASTERS THESIS

Compression of long-term EEG using Power Spectral Density

 Sep’02 - Jan’01

Centre for Signal Processing and Communication,
Concordia University, Canada

* Proposed and analyzed the features based on power spectral density as the descriptors of the segments from the long-term background EEG recording
* Developed an algorithm to identify the different patterns of the EEG. The algorithm was implemented in MATLAB.
* Developed a Graphical User Interface (GUI) in MATLAB.
* Research Assistant under the guidance of M.N.S. Swamy, PhD (Research Chair, Concordia University, Canada) and Rajeev Agarwal, PhD (Research Director, Stellate Systems, Canada).

WORK EXPERIENCE

1. EEG based communication device for handicapped people

Aug’01–July’02

Project Associate
Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India

* Developed an algorithm to identify the changes that occur in motor cortex of the brain during the planning stage of a movement.
* Simulation was done in MATLAB.
* Used various signal processing techniques like Fast Fourier transform, Wavelet transform, and Independent Component Analysis.
* Sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

2. Quantification of Autonomic Tone Dec’01 - Feb’02
