I traded my 1992 Chevrolet C2500 truck for this motorcycle. I got it on June 12, 2004, my third American made, V-twin motorcycle with 890 miles on it. Production #014, in May 2002 (CA model). This bike was won in the Buell Deal's Gap, SLAY THE DRAGON, sweepstakes by the previous owner. The previous owner got to ride with Erik Buell at Deal's Gap in October 2002.

Modifions include: Buell race muffler & race ECM, K&N air filter, modified XB12 airbox lid, removed snorkle, black windscreen, chromed heel guards, X1 footpegs, '04 belt drive upgrade, '06 drive belt, '04 mirrors, LSL frame sliders, Buell frame pucks, Polly Heater handlebar heaters, and helmet holder bracket (under rear seat).

October 19, 2004 (5,000 mi): Black OE wheel bearings replaced by HD/Buell with orange OE wheel bearings.
August 2005 (9,800 mi): Removed snorkle from airbox. Installed modified XB12 airbox lid.
September 2005 (9,954 mi): Painted the Dunlop letters on the tires with tire pens from Wot-designs.com. Got TPS reset at the dealer.
October 2005 (10,000 mi): Installed axle sliders made from skate board wheels. Also installed upgraded mirrors, 2004 longer style. Installed new rear tire.
October 2005 (10,000 mi): Attended BRAG Appalachian Adventure (Lavale, MD).
December 2005 (12,259 mi): Performed 2003 to 2004 drive belt upgrade. Also installed 2006 version drive belt. Parts replaced: Front pulley, drive belt, idler pulley, front pulley cover, rear pulley, upper and lower belt guards, '06 belt all for $299. Changed oil to full synthetic (Castrol 10w40) for the winter.
May 2006 (13,500 mi): Replaced the worn spark plug wires, upgraded to the 2004 style plug wires. Also installed new spark plugs.
June 2006: Purchased the Vehicle Diagnostic Scan-Tool Software (VDSTS) by TechnoResearch. I can now reset my own TPS as well as perform other diagnostics.
June 2006: Installed new intake manifold gaskets at this time as well, I used Genuine James gaskets.
July 12, 2006 (15,000 mi): The oil pump failed caused by a failed oil pump drive gear off the pinion shaft. The inner race on the pinion shaft walked out possibly helping to cause the failure. The repair would mean having to split the case and press on a new inner race onto the flywheel, a total engine rebuild.
August 12, 2006: Bought a 2004 XB12R w/ 5,071 mi on it. I will part out the XB9R.
