INVINCIBILITY
On the menu screen (which is the title screen with the words & options
START, CONTINUE, CREDITS, A=JUMP, and B=FIRE below the picture at the top) 
press the following:
A, B, B, A, B, A, A, B, A, A, B, A, A
The word START should change to CHEAT.  Press START to begin playing and you
will be invincible.

STAGE SKIP
Enter the invincibility code above and start a game when you want to skip
a stage press and hold the following:
SELECT
Then press:
START
You'll skip the current stage you are on.
