KING RAMA 1

        In the year 1782, Phra Buddha Yodfa the Great.         
(King Rama I) moved the capital Thonburi across
the Chao Phya River

Rattanakosin City or popularly khown as Bangkok was founded by King Rama I with the splendour of new palaces, temples, fortresses, and city walls.

People of Bangkok built houses on the river banks of Chao Phya as well as canal systems around the city.

In rainy seasons,the inhabitants enjoyed making religious merits and festivities in full celebration.

Two families had built impressive Thai-style houses with gardens and abundant fruits. Their children became close friends, almost like families.

Children from both houses liked the sight of water and river banks as they watched boats paddled by or enjoyed fishing.

Despite the protection by the monarch, Thai people were always aware and prepared for foes form nearby and afar.

During his twenty-eight years at the new capital, the King ruled with kindness and generousity. Religion flourished while the citizenry lived with happiness.

King Phra Buddha Yodfa the Great passed away causing much sorrow. The people prayed for the heir to the throne who was King Phra Buddha Loetla Naphalai
(King Rama II).
