Prince Mongkut, the brother of King Phra Nangklao, was a founder of Dhammayuth, a new monastic order of the Theravada Buddhism in Siam. |
During the time as a monk Prince Mongkut studied foreign affairs as well as medern Western Sciences which he learnt from Catholic monks and missionaries. |

The "Bhoonsombat" and "Sawasdisre" families extended their residential grounds along the riverside. They became traders in wood panels and poles with shops situated by Nang Lerng Bridge. |
