The new constitutional government invited Prince Ananda Mahidol who was then a young boy studying overseas to ascend the throne as King Rama VIII.

During World War II, there was a great flood in Bangkok. However, as the people were accustomed to water transport, they naturally used boats instead for travelling on the flooded streets.

The "Phoonsombat" and "Sawasdisri" families had many boats as well as various shops along the river. The children preferred to traval by boats instead of swimming in the water.
