Phi  Ta  Khon  Festival   Loei

This festival has its origins in an old Buddhist legend that tells of Prince Vessandorn, Buddha's penultimate earthly incarnation.  When Phi Ta Khon returned to his city,the welcome given him was so delightful that thespirits emerged to celebrate the return of a hero most respected by young men of the village. Nowadays, the young men dress as spirits in the form of a sacred Buddha image, all the while teasinng villagers who come to join in the fun. At the same time monks tell listeners the story of   Buddha's last great incarnation before he attained Enlightenment.

Sunton Phu Memorial Day  Rayong  June  26
The Klaeng District of Rayong Provice is the brithplace of Sunton Phu, the greatest poet of Siam. On June 26 of every year, theprovince holds this fair as Sunton Phu Day to commemorate his cultural contributions to Thailand. The venue for this fair is Sunton Phu monument surrounded by glorious sea vistas in the Banklam Sub-district of Klaeng.

The festival is held in front of the Administration Office of Ubolratana District, and includes a rocket procession by each sub-district and a rocket-shooting contest.
