I, R. Thangadurai, was born on 9th April, 1969 at Tenkasi which is 5 km distance from Shengottai, the birth place of the famous indian number theorist Dr. S. S. Pillai. I am the youngest of my family. My family tree is as follows:

I am married to R. Ananthi on 9th Febrary, 2000 at Tiruchendur which is a holy place for Lord Murugan. Also, I have one and only daughter T. A. Padmalakshmi (born on 24th November, 2001 at Palayamkottai) who is now four and a half months young. Her pet name is Aruna.

I studied my first standard at Kovilpatti, the second and third standard at Tenkasi, and from fourth standard onwards my family shifted to Palayamkottai which is a town situated at the bank of the river ``Thamirabharani''. I studied there till my post-graduation. Then I went to Allahabad for my doctorate. I did my Ph.D at Harish-Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad. I went back to Chennai for my post-doctoral fellowship at Instiute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai. Then I have got a visiting Scientist position at Indian Statistical Insitute, Kolkata where I am at present.

I am indepted to many of my teachers namely, Prof. S. Arumugam, Prof. D. Suryanarayanan, Prof. S. D. Adhikari, Prof. B. Ramakrishnan, Prof. R. Balasubramanian, etc. I learned not only mathematics from them, but also many good qualities. Their constant encourgements and my hard work put me in this level. I might have missed many names of my teachers who also helped me.
