Ornaran are nearly identical to Terrans in appearance. Except they have extra cartilage on the bridge of their nose. This is similar to Bajoran except the ridges are fatter and latter. There is also a small indent at the top of the nose between the eyes.

Ornarans have a unique physical characteristic. They are able to produce and emit an electrical charge, usually from their hands. This can appear as a glowing ball or a formed spark of electricity. This can stun and render humanoids and animals unconscious for a short period of time if the electricity is directed at them at close contact over the heart or head region. They are also able to absorb and channel vast amounts of electricity. Absorbing the energy from humanoids and animals is liable to create a lot of physical damage and/or result in dealth.

Males are positively charged. Females are negatively charged. Women experience "Morning Sickness" in the way of a high fever that lasts for a few days. Women are able to know the sex of their child early in pregnancy. This is due to the fact that if the woman carries a baby girl, then the mother goes through a temporary shift in charge from negative to positive. This shift will last the duration of the pregnancy. The womb needs a lot of electrical energy to maintain the babiy's growth. Traditionally pregnant women would daily sit in a circle of men or women (depending on the sex of the child) and absorb liberal amounts of electrical energy from all of them in a strong current. However in modern times, a hand-held device is used at the convenience of the pregnant mother. Pregnant women also usually remain indoors away from lelectrical storms and high-charged equipment. Electrocution at this time will certainly kill the fetus and may harm the mother.

Ornarans and Brekkans also appear very similar, except the cartilage on the Brekkans nose is different. Ornarans for over 200 years have become addicted to felicium, a narcotic produced by the Brekkans. For the past 16 years, Ornarans have been able to break the addiction, however, they suffer numerous types of ailments from the withdrawal to the drug.
