Name: Shinji Ikari

Age: 14

Status: Third Child

Marital Status: At the start of the series, Shinji seemed to have an "interest" in Rei. Unfortunatly, after Dr. Akagi's revelations of Rei's true origins, he couldn't feel anything but regret and shock. This was not towards Rei, but towards his father. At the end, he may have had something for Asuka, but he stays pretty much single throughout the series.

Personality: In the beginning, Shinji was nothing but a cowardly and selfish know nothing kid. His philosophy of running away from the truth and life became his method of living. Ritsuko Akagi describes Shinji as a hedgehog, because whenever he tries to get close to anyone, he ends up hurting them, and himself. However, living under the influence of Misato and Asuka, and the experience of battles against the Angels, an emotional growth begins in Shinji. After living a life of pain and hardships, he finds it easy to be kind to others. Shinji begins to find words easier and has a greater ability, and courage, to speak his mind. He is also quite in touch with himself as well, as he constantly battles with his subconscious ming in a few episodes about his own existance and emotional incapabilities.

Name: Rei Ayanami

Age: 14

Status: First Child

Marital Status: Rei is really strange and gives nothing away. However, in the later episodes, she makes progress on her emotional incapabilities. "It's like you to care for others." Touji Suzuhara says to her, and this is true. Rei does feel something towards Shinji, but it is only subtle. Her unlikely words of "Thank You" to Shinji birings a war on her thoughts, as she had never used suck words to anyone else. It becomes visable on how she feels towards Shinji as she sacrifices her own life to save him from the 16th Angel. Yet throughout the whole series, Rei is bonded and somehow attracted to Shinji's father, Gendo Ikari. The reasons behind this are shocking, but she remains very single.

Personality: The soul reason behind Rei's inability to think and feel like a normal human being, is beacuse she is a clone of Shinji's mother, Yui Ikari. This is the reason why she feels bizarrely attracted to Gendo, and why she can only open herself slightlyto Shinji and no one else. Her subtle affection for Shinji is most likely from her motherly genes. It also explains her lack of respect for her own existance, knowing the fact she is not an actual human, but a mere copy of one would be kind of worrying.

Name: Asuka Langley Sohryu

Age: 14

Status: Second Child

Marital Status: Asuka believes that she is in love with Kaji. However, she seems to have an interest in Shinji, but would never openly admit it, even though she kissed him. Although she is very beutiful, she stays single throughout the series.

Personality: Asuka is three quarters German and one quarter Japanese, which explaines her middle name, and dark blond hair. Asuka's selfishness exceeds everyone else, and her ego is one of a kind. She may be pretty, but that is at times only skin deep. However, the reasons for her personality are dark and horrifying. When she was only four years old, both her parents commited suicide. First her father, after which her mother was commited to a mental institute, then a little while later, she finds her motherhanging from the ceiling with a rope around her neck. After which Asuka made a pledge that she will never need anyone else's aid and will always have the capability to look after herself. Asuka, somehow percieved that the reason her parents both commited suicide was contributed by her. She thought that she was useless and meant nothing to her parents. She also made another promise, that se will be the best Eva pilot there is, to show, not just the world, but her parents that she isn't worthless. This explaines Asuak's insane jealousy when Shinji or Rei defeat an Angel without her contribution.

Name: Misato Katsuragi

Age: 30

Status: Operations Director. Promoted from Captain to Major.

Marital Status: Compleatly in love with Kaji. Although at first, there is only frustration and anger when she is around him. She cannot help the fact that she was, and still is in love with him. Misato ran away from Kaji once eight years ago when shje realised how Kaji resembled her father. Yet, this time she couldn't run away. She eventually falls into be with him and they do it. You know what I mean, if you don't, then you are too young to know yet... ^_^ (I am one to talk... lol)

Personality: Like everyone else in this series, Misato had a pretty horrifying past. She experienced the second inpact first hand, and lost her family in the process. Her once hate towards her father for being an overworked coward, turned into a mixed feeling of regret and love, when he sacraficed himself to let Misato live. Yet, Misato is a gentle soul and is a very lovable character. Her pity for Shinji makes her take Shinji into her own home and becomes his legal guardian. Misato is somewhat of a slob, and also very lazy. Taking advantage of Shinji's shyness, she makes him do all the house work. Apparently, she is kept away from secrets of NERV. Although she acts calm and strong in tough situations, She too is somewhat of a coward like Shinji, as she keeps running form the past instead of confronting it.

Name: Ryoji Kaji

Age: 31

Status: Plays a major role in the Human Instrumentality Project at NERV. Yet, he is also a spy for the Japanese Government.

Marital Status: Kaji is in love with Misato, and doesn't try to conceal it either. His long battle to win Misato eight years ago failed, as she left him believing he was seeing someone else, which was a lie. He truly is a nice person and nearly revolves a small part of his life around Misato.

Personality: Kaji is very interesting, as he constantly speaks in riddles and alway philosophising. He is very well spoken, and most likely well educated. His charm and looks allow him to be quite a chauvinist. However, Kaji is really a good guy, as he sacrafices himself to reveal NERV's sisnster plans.

Name: Ritsuko Akagi

Age: 31

Status: Chief Engineer of NERV. Dr. Ritsuko Akagi holds a very high position in NERV.

Marital Status: Her relationship with anyone throughout the series is very dicreet and rather "hush hush". Yet, in Genesis 12, Ritsuko herself reveals her very intiamte affairwith Gendo Ikari. When it is obvious to Dr. Akagi that she can't compeat over Gendo Ikari's love for Rei, she attempts many times to destroy Rei. Even though she has a secrative relationship with Gendo, her life is quite lonely as she attempts to fill the empty holes with cats.

Personality: Ritsuko has very dark characteristics. Being the daughter of a very famous scientist, who developed the Magi Super Computers, it's quite obvious that she intends to follow in her mother's footsteps. She allows her work to rule her life, resulting in her lonliness and her inability to seek happiness. She practically lives for work. Tho only apparent thing that allowed some feeling of pleasure was her affair with Commander Ikari. However, when she couldn't compete with Rei for Gendo's affection, her only means for happiness were taken away. This lead to her temporary insanity and extream jealosy. Like mother, like daughter. Ritsuko takes after her mother in life, work and love.

Name: Gendo Ikari

Age: N/A (for now)

Status: High Commander of NERV.

Marital Status: Widower. Gendo lost his wife, Yui, in a freak accident during an Eva experiment. Apparently, after her death, Gendo was very distraght and distant from others. This wasn't the fact when Ritsuko discovered his relationship with her own mother a short while after Yui's tragety. Eventually, a few years down the road, he has another sexual relationship with the second generation of Akagi's, Ritsuko.

Personality: Of all the characters in the series, Gendo had got to be one of the darkest, most devious, and coldest ones. If Rei seems rather emotionless or uncaring, Gendo is off the Atomic Scale. Commander Ikari is as cold and hearless as you can get. Hid use of people is a common occurence, such incidents include his use of Aoki Ritsuko for her brilliance in developing the Magi Computers and Shinji's talents as a pilot. Gendo could not cope with the loss of Yui, so he tried to cheat death and cloned Yui to produce Rei. Also, he apperently partially cloned Eva Unit 01 with Yui too, for several reasons. One, the Eva always trys to protect Shinji in times of desperate need. Two, Shinji has a huge synchronisation level with Unit 01 with no prior training. Three, Gendo speaks to the Eva as if it were Yui. At one time, he even referred to the Eva as if it was Yui. His affection and care for Rei is very obvious. Being a clone of his late wife, he has all the reasons to be so. Overall, Gendo is a very sick man with sinister morals and ehtics. His aim to be "One with God" results in his quite insane and evil attempts to get there.
