Neon Genesis Evangelion

 The world has experienced two impacts (meteors hitting the Earth) so far. The first occurred, 4 million years ago during the reign of the dinosaurs. The second one occurred in the year 2000. This second impact caused the south poles to melt and sent the Earth off its axis. This chaotic catastrophe resulted in the world being flooded under water! With half the world's population dead and dying, mankind slowly picked up the pieces. What was left of it anyway. The first impact was due to a meteor hitting the earth and this fact was proven. However, the second impact was also claimed to be a second meteor, yet the truth was not revealed. It was actually a giant sentiment called an "Angel", which exploded, causing the melted the southern poles.

Fifteen years later, man has reclaimed his world again and prepares for the worst disaster to come. Now the Angels have returned. A secret organisation called Nerv have been established around the world and they somehow foresaw the return of the Angels. When the third Angel arrives, the army is sent in to destroy the giant beings with everything they've got. Yet, conventional seem to be no effect against the Angels forcefield called an "AT Field".

When the army could do no more, the fate of mankind is placed into the hands on Nerv. With the Angels being to powerful, only thing that can stop them is something that has equal power to the Angels, the Evangelion. This giant biohumaniod being was secretly developed by Nerv (formerly known as Gehirn) and man's ultimate fighting machine. And mankind's last hope.

However, there is one problem with the Evangelions. They need a pilot, and only young children (around 14 years of age) have the ability to synchronise with the mysterious Evas. Yet, these children are selected by a scientific organisation named The Mardook Institution. Then comes our hero, the world's one and only saviour, Shinji Ikari, the Third Child. A cowardly child, who happens to be the son of the Commander of Nerv, Gendo Ikari. With two other pilots, the First Child - Rei Ayanami, and the Second Child - Asuka Sohryu Langley, Shinji has to stop the Angels' attempt at a third impact.
