The following is a list of some of the characters in my current Arcadayn campaign: the PCs, and the named NPCs which they have met so far. Most of the entries are arranged alphabetically by first name, with some secondary characters listed under related characters' entries.
Where available, each player's name in the PC blurbs is linked to that player's character write-up on her own home page. Caveat to current and potential players: Large sections of those stats and background pages are not public knowledge. For the same reasons, some background characters known only to one PC have deliberately been omitted from the NPC list below.
Darra (Caelish Zudarra Taroq) [Erika Emrick]: [portrait] A young werehorse minstrel from Riversmidst. She is secretly a priest of Kuldor, and now that she has avenged herself against her father, the necromancer Curazal Taroq, she seeks new quests in the name of justice.
Laylah [Anne Cross]: [portrait] A beautiful young woman originally from the Bogmoors. Until this past year (994 KC) she was a dancer and acrobat with "Magister Motho's Theater of Wonders," but her prophetic "gifts" have prompted her to investigate a new life-path. Her (and her friends') part in the restoration of the Krithian Asanos has earned her (and them) some unsought fame.
Ruqayyah al-Amiriyah [Shawna Lea Adams]: [portrait] A dancer (and Duz-in-training) from the Cat Tribe (Tan-Mubik). Accidents with a shapeshifting spell have given her lynx-like features (eyes and patterned skin). She has struggled to reconcile her magical gifts, her personal problems and her duty to her tribe and goddess, but has very recently started to find a balance.
Naima [Christine Brown]: [portrait] First met while working as a discreet bodyguard in the service of Hajaj duz-a-Kashahadin. She helped the other PCs in their hunt for Taroq, then returned to her people.
Sarah [Christine Brown]: A half-merfolk fisherwoman who took Ruqayyah to see the Great Sea. She helped "Star" recover some of her lost memory, then returned to her trade.
"Star" (true name unknown) [Erika Emrick]: [portrait] A beautiful amnesiac who was washed ashore near Harwen, and found by Ruqayyah and Sarah. She bears a strange star-mark on her palm, and has a talent for water magic. She has since learned that she is a water sidhe (of mutable sex), and that a colony of her people dwell in Marwar. She is making her way there in the hopes of regaining the rest of her memory.
Afla duz-a-Mubik: A houri and Duz of the Cat Tribe, who seeks out potential Duz to insure that they receive training. (See also Ganirit and Quitaibah.)
Alastair: [portrait] A Krithian fire mage with extensive burn scars.
Al-Zaki (a.k.a. Glaxis): A mysterious, dark-skinned mage (secretly the dragon Thastygliax, in human form). He has connections to Co-Governor Hajaj and to the Ranae tribes in the southern Outlands.
Ayyub: An outcast Camel tribesman rescued from the elements by the PCs. He has taken sanctuary with the Cat Tribe. His uncle, Hisham, is a powerful Duz.
Lady Bladwith: Proprietor of The Last Cask, an inn in the Castle Farvale village.
Brand IV: Emperor of Krith.
Brodar: Duke of Northmarch.
Carimine: Empress of Krith; mother of Sidor and Laisa.
Corben: A low-ranking Celestian Cleric who leads a company of warriors in various missions given by his church or the ducal court (usually escort or courier duty). Rumors of their run-in with some undead brought about their meeting the PCs. The members of the company are:
Mistress Roassa Dagni: A Celestian cleric of the Order of the Dawn-bloom, famed as a spirit empath, faith-healer and exorcist.
Dungedan: Duke of Southmarch.
The Durants: Fazia's parents, who own a farm outside Theronton.
Fatimah lin-Sbaih: Ruqayyah's friend, the precocious young daughter of a camel-trader in Tel Yuli.
Ganirit duz-a-Mubik: [portrait] Umar (chieftain) of Ruqayyah's tribe (the Cat). Laylah's visions alerted her people to danger, for which she is grateful. She has also shown a keen interest in Ruqyyah's future, and at her request, sent Duz to help Theolodia. She has a caracal familiar, Razil. The Duz of her tribe include:
Gazdaru: Chief of the Ayasi clan of Ranae.
Ger: A soldier in the Castle Farvale garrison; nephew of the commander.
Gothnam: Earl of Palatine.
Graywind: A centaur pilgrim, encountered at the Shrine of the Petitioners on Cauldron Isle.
Hajaj ib-Butrus duz-a-Kashahadin: Co-Governor of Tel Yuli; Naima's former employer. He has a hawk familiar, Num.
Helledoth, the Demon-Slayer: A sentient sword, forged (and lost) during the Krithian Civil War, found in the Outlands by Darra, and passed on to Pelmark.
Iztok: One of of the oldest and most revered "seekers" among the Ranae tribes.
Jeraquin: Duke of Eastmarch; an old, practical, military man.
Kalon: Krithian proprietor of Wine of the Sun, an inn in Ulidel/Tel Yuli. Called "Khalil" ("friend") by some Desert Men.
Laisa: The newborn princess of the Krithian Empire.
Luned: Part-sidhe captain of The Silver Falcon, a Haldin ship from Aramakla.
Meg ("Old Meg"): [portrait] Old part-merfolk fisherwoman, and priestess of Morovira Sea-Mother.
Magister Motho: Owner of the "Theater of Wonder," a circus traveling through Visala and Krith. Laylah's former master.
Nathor: Senior priest of Rashira in Tel Yuli.
The Paragons: The heads of the six orders of the Celestian Church in Krith:
Pelmark "Silverbolt": [portrait] A Celestian Cleric of the Crescent Moon order, with bizarre silvery skin. A law-man in Berigissel, he met Fazia and Darra after their first encounter with undead. He helped Laylah's exploration of her "gifts" by introducing her to Theolodia and Volan. He was recently promoted to the rank of Constellation for his part in the cleansing of the Asanos.
Qutaibah ib-Isa duz-a-Mubik: Ruqayyah's teacher in the ways of the Duz of Cat Tribe. (See also Ganirit and Afla.)
Ragomi: Wife of Gazdaru, and lorekeeper of the Ayasi Ranae.
Rehana: A palm-reader (and probable Duz?) operating in Berigissel.
Rothrid: Duke of Westmarch; a renowned musician.
Sidor: Crown Prince of the Krithian Empire; age 7. He is secretly a werelion; Ruqayyah and Darra are trying to teach him to control the change.
Tashfin al-Dukash: A caravan-master operating between Jackal Tribe (his home) and Tel Yuli. Other members of the caravan he leads include:
Thastygliax: See entry for Al-Zaki.
Theolodia: An elderly Celestian Cleric of the Golden Eye order. She helped Laylah understand that her visions came from the goddess Rashira. She was recently promoted to the rank of Constellation for her part in organizing the rituals to cleanse the Asanos.
Tryggvi: A polyglot priest at the Shrine of the Petitioners, on Cauldron Isle.
Lieutenant Ulfgar Ottarsson: A Northland-born Bloodletter priest serving in the Westmarch cavalry. Fazia's commanding officer before her death.
Umok: A Mynar [minotaur] cleric of "Klur" [Kuldor] befriended by Darra and Ruqayyah. Now the elder of his tribe, following Birkum's death. Other members of his tribe include:
Vodo: The best hunter among the Ayasi clan of Ranae.
Master Volan: A Celestian Cleric, head of the Order of the Pole Star in Theronton. He is Pelmark's uncle, and briefly tutored Laylah.
Zharka: A lizard man shaman the PCs encountered on the road to Tel Yuli.
Zudak: Prince Sidor's personal tutor; a bronze dwarf from Onbarrut.
Birkum: An old, huge Mynar. Elder of Umok's tribe until his death fighting Taroq's minions.
Curazal Taroq: [portrait] A necromancer-priest of Shulkor, believed to have been born in the Outlands. Slain in his second battle with his daughter Darra.
Fazia Durant [PC: Shawna Lea Adams]: A werehorse priestess of the Bloodletter, who served in the Westmarch cavalry. She died coming out of a berserk state after the first battle with Taroq and his undead minions.
Ormenlind: [portrait] The rebel prince who stole the Krithian Asanos and started the Civil War. On his death, his spirit was somehow tied to the broken, corrupted Asanos, and he became undead. Laylah has attempted to reach out to him, to offer him peace, but his fate is still uncertain.
Yantos: [portrait] A Ranae "seeker" until a fatal encounter with a necromancer doomed him to an existence as a ghost in the Haunted Rift. Befriended by "Glaxis," and later by Darra, who helped him find his final rest.
