12-15 Highsuntide: While Afla and Qutaibah made the arrangements for Laylah and her companions to meet with the senior Duz, the young women spent their time in prayer, exercise and study. They also tended Ayyub, who had recovered enough to talk for short periods of time. He was polite and gracious at all times, but avoided speaking of his past. When he was healthy enough to ride, the women spent some time getting acquainted with the camels they would ride to see the Duz.
16-17 Highsuntide: The four women, along with Ayyub, Afla and Qutaibah, traveled to Tel Rebinat, the oasis town that served as the center of power for Cat Tribe. They then had a day to rest and prepare for the meeting.
18 Highsuntide: Ayyub stayed at the guest house when the others left for the morning meeting. They were led to a pavilion near the oasis, and led inside past guards with leashed caracals.
Qutaibah introduced Laylah and her friends to Ganirit, the Umar (chieftain) of the tribe, and the six senior Duz who attended her. The Umar welcomed them, and asked Laylah to tell them about her visions, in her own words, in the tribe's language. Ganirit asked Ruqayyah to help her if she lacked the words.
