Arcadayn Journal, Session #20
Game Date: 1-3 Heatblight, 994 KC
Play Date: 12/18/99

[Previous session]

1 Heatblight: The party traveled to Quikara, where they saw Krithian dragon banners hung in celebration of the Imperial Games (which started today and will last for a week). Most inns were full due to the festival, but they found rooms at "The Broken Chariot."

2 Heatblight: After traveling south from Quikara for a few hours, Laylah begged to stop for a while to enjoy swimming and bathing in the river. Laylah began giving the other three women swimming lessons.

Darra took the stop as an opportunity to pry into Al-Zaki's past. He was born in the mountains south of the desert. He eventually met the nomads who live south of there, and later wandered into Krith and the desert. His family was reclusive and very small, and he hasn't seen them in quite some time. He was not using his real name, but declined to give it.

After they resumed their journey, Al-Zaki asked Ruqayyah about the spells she knows. She can find water, heal, sense livign things, and produce an itch. He can produce (and recognise) illusions, test food, and create a magical mist to guard a campsite. Ruqayyah asked if he could teach her his spells. Because their methods of casting spells are different (she dances, he does not), he would probably need to instruct her in magical theory [Thaumatology] first. The women explained Ruqayyah's monthly emotional cycle to him, and they discussed its effect on their travel plans (she would shortly enter the downward part of the cycle).

They found a campsite for the night, and Al-Zaki demonstrated his Mystic Mist spell.

3 Heatblight: Al-Zaki told them more about the nomads to the sound, who call themselves the Ranae. Their single "town" (a meeting-place for the tribes) is named Rana. His name among them is "Glaxis." They consider him to be a "seeker," their term for all magicians and scholars, whether secular or clerical. They are tolerant of most religions, because they were once persecuted for their faith. (Shulkor, as the antithesis of nature, is an exception.)

They found a small copse of trees suitable for using as a campsite for a few days, to wait out Ruqayyah's lethargic phase.
