CD REVIEWS: PAGE 3

Artist: Pearl Jam

Album: Binaural

Label: Sony

The Review: Remember around 1992 or 1993 when the hair band era became overdone and the modern music scene needed a change?  That is when bands like Nirvana, Sound Garden, and yes...Pearl Jam came onto the scene with their grunge style and looks.  How cool Eddie Vedder  and company must have felt.  Hey guys we are the scene now man... f**k those hair band bastards! Now I can almost smell Eddie Vedder's fear.  Nirvana and Sound Garden are virtually gone forever and Pearl Jam is caught in this damn time frame.  Hey guys...guess what...the 90s are over and so isn't grunge so get lost!  This CD is pretty much like their older stuff basically...a true post grunge leftover collecting mold and dust at your local record store.  Until then...it will be waiting for some goofy white guy to buy it who is also caught in the 90s time frame.  Time to evolve or get lost guys...I can almost hear Kip Winger and Jani Lane laughing!

Artist: The Crown

Album: Deathrace King

Label: Metal Blade

The Review: This CD proves to be the soundtrack to all nightmares and terrors with its vicious death metal style and  lyrics of evil and death!  This band provides you with the some of the best death metal you will probably ever hear out of the genre.  Expect a brutal assault of heavy guitar riffs and thunderous drum beats that will wake the dead.  Lead vocalist Johan Lindstrand's snarls and screams only ad to the brutality of this disc as well.  So if you are into some true break s**t music, this is the one to pick up for all your evil death metal pleasures!

Artist: A Perfect Circle

Album: Mer de Noms

Label: Virgin

The Review: Ladies and Gentlemen...I introduce to you the CD that could very well be the number 1 rock release of the year 2000! Was it worth the wait...my reaction so far in this review should give you a clue to my feelings on that.  As for the disc, it will captivate you with it's innovative styles and experimental sound.  The CD's haunting guitar solos on some tracks will send shivers up your spine, while other tracks provide a soothing mix of violins and acoustics.  As for vocals, Maynard shows his incredible versatility mixing it up with the style he had with Tool and adding a new melodic aspect to his style harmonizing with the band's backup singers.  From the dark sound of "Magdalena", to the modern rock sound of "Judith", to the soft harmony feel of "Orestes"...this CD is absolutely amazing.  Hats off to Billy, Maynard, Paz, Josh, and Troy of A Perfect Circle for the musical masterpiece know as Mer de Noms!
