The Review: I have to be honest...being a metal director is great but I occasionally like to take a break and spin something different. That is where a band like Cypress Hill comes in. I have to admit that I have always enjoyed their style. Where does Cypress Hill come into this CD? This is Sen Dog's side project and might I say they are sounding pretty damn tight! Fresh from the already hot metal/rap crossover "Skull and Bones", Sen proves that he can rock out with this brutal rap core release. Even though the scene is overdone now, this band has a great mix of pure attitude songs which could be the fuel for any political revolution. Also, amazingly enough, this is a rap core band that finally has a frontman that doesn't look or sound like a f**king idiot! Rock on dammit! |

The Review: Well...I have found more reasons to hate the modern mainstream rock scene. (Bare with me if I get a bit negative with this review because I am still recovering from listening to this CD...) This guy, who doubles as Kid Rock's DJ, decided to jump on the coat tails of Mr. Rock and all of a sudden found himself with his own CD. Besides the fact that I am pissed that every damn band must have a DJ now a days, I am wondering why this guy would even think that he should release a CD. Well aside from my bitching...this CD is a mix of the typical "swishy swishy" sounds and a few accousitics thrown in to make sure that is still a rock CD. This CD will annoy true rock fans to the point of vommiting. But if you are a 12 year old that likes this kind of thing go ahead and but it. But lets hope that Mr. Kracker stays behind the DJ table for the Kid from now on. Until then I can only hope for the day that people will learn from Vanilla Ice... |

The Review: This CD is yet another impressive release from this NYC band. Very much like others out of the genre (ex. Biohazard), growing up on the mean streets proved to be the influences for several of their songs. The lyrics are barked out rather well by frontman Freddy Cricien and the rest of the band supplies some heavy-get-up-out-of your-seat-and-mosh music! However, the band's "we aren't in this for the money" attitude is one that is older than the ice age. Track 5 is proof of that when the band confronts several hardcore bands that have aparently "sold out". Someday I really hope the whole "selling out" thing will eventually end. Still that doesn't take away from the band's brutal style and I can honestly say that they are sounding better than ever! |
