The Best of the Best Spring 2000 |
On our last show of the Spring 2000 semester we counted down the best metal and rock CDs that we got in all semester. Granted, we did not receive every metal CD that came out this semester, but here are our favorites and some of the lucky runners up!!! |

BAND: KITTIE ALBUM: SPIT Review: Who else could be number 1 but those crazy rockin' grrls from Kittie! In a loud rock world dominated by men, its good to see that a few "nice" young ladies can rock out. For those of you who haven't puchased this CD yet, you can expect only the best teeth-grinding metal mixed with emotional vocals that are either screamed or crooned out by the band's singers. Congrats to the grrrls from Kittie and lets hope they keep rockin' on! |

BAND: URANIUM 235 ALBUM: CULTURAL MINORITY Review: Its good to see that the Industrial flavor is still out there and going strong with this band. This CD is a great mix of heavy guitar riffs, electronic sounds, and samples. Some tracks have a dark electronica feel to them as well which only ads to the great variety you will find on this disc. They also do a great cover of the 80s Dead or Alive hit "You Spend Me Round (Like a Record)"! This one is highly recommended!!! |

BAND: GENITORTURERS ALBUM: MACHINE LOVE Review: Bondage style industrial is probably the best way to describe this. Either that or silky smooth industrial. Either way this band has a style that will dominate you and make you beg for more like the dog you are >:-)! Expect a great mix of indsutrial (esq) stuff mixed in with a few dark electronica flavors as well. They also do a great cover of that overally annoying song "Touch Myself" and actually make it sound good by making it dirty and more grindy than the original version! Man...I better stop before I get excited! |

Heavy Metal 2000 |
ALBUM: HEAVY METAL 2000 SOUNDTRACK Review: If you don't have this CD by now you are missing out on a lot! This disc provides a great mix of popular and up-coming bands such as Monster Magnet, Machine Head, Apartment 26, Coal Chamber, and SOAD. Believe it or not, unlike every other soundtrack that comes out lately, there is actually an abundance of original tracks that you can't find on the artist's original CD! Rock on dammit! |

BAND: THE BLOODHOUND GANG ALBUM: HORRAY FOR BOOBIES Review: Ok...I like gimic rock dammit so sue me!!! Honestly though, this CD provides a great laugh in a rock world that at times can be way to dismal. With tracks like "I Hope You Die", "The Ballad of Chasey Lane", and "The Lap Dance Is So Much Better When The Stripper Is Crying" how can you not enjoy this CD! A definate for fans of The Bloodhound Gang or anyone that needs a good laugh! |
6.) TRUNK MUSCLE |
BAND: TRUNK MUSCLE ALBUM: PRAYER OF THE DESOLATE Review: This band is wicked...plain and simple! I wrote the review on this one and I can honestly say this band will rock your ass off with heavy riffs and screaming vocals. Probably one of them most hard to find CDs as well so if you see it snatch it before I do! Its beyond worth buying! |
