This is not really a column, just a collection of the updates I made to the various character pages based on the events of the Feb. 4 PPV.
The Asian Invasion:
- The AI got beat by Boom Boom and Caliente. Damn, WOW really doesn't
have much faith in them, do they?
Bronco Billie:
- It seemed like they had forgotten about the "ranch" angle,
but they resurrected it at the PPV, and Disciplinarian bought Billie's ranch.
I doubt that this angle will do Billie any favors, since Ms. D has a lot more
charisma than Billie does.
Caged Heat:
- Vendetta joined Caged Heat. They mentioned that she was there to combat
Thug and Harley's Angels, but that rivalry may be toned down because...
- A new tag team, "Law and Order", debuted. Just from the name,
it seems pretty obvious that a run-in with the Heat is in their future. Apparently,
L & O are heels, since they beat up Hammerin' Heather Steele. That should
serve to put Caged Heat over further as crowd-favorite heels.
Danger:
- Danger lost the title to Terri Gold after being tabled by Riot. This is
a believable feud between WOW's two best badasses...good to keep it going,
I think (and not to give the belt to either one.)
The Daughters of Darkness:
- The Daughters of Darkness did not appear at the PPV. Speculation is
that they have been repackaged as Law & Order, and since every other active
wrestler did have a PPV match, that is probably right. I will have to see
it myself to be sure, though. I suppose there is a lot to be said for scrapping
the Daughters, who were obviously going nowhere, but it doesn't change the
fact that the Mystery angle was a lame idea done in a half-assed manner. May
it at least be quickly forgotten.
The Disciplinarian:
- Well, Disciplinarian is at least in an angle now...she bought Bronco
Billie's ranch. Although I suppose this is good because it will attract some
attention to Ms. D, it really does not make a lot of sense as a storyline.
She's an elementary school teacher! That's her whole gimmick! Anyone knows
that elementary school teachers make no money. It would have made far more
sense for Lana Star to buy the ranch. But instead, they are apparently re-teaming
Lana with Poison, another thing that makes no sense. It's all highly illogical.
Look forward to some painful skits between Disciplinarian, who plays her character
well, and Billie, who just looks burnt out all the time.
Ice Cold:
- Ice Cold was seemingly betrayed by Poison and got her head shaved at
the PPV. This is great! Now she has no allies, and has just been through a
traumatic experience ... basically, they can do whatever they want with her
character right now, and hopefully make it a lot better. Maybe she can even
team with Caliente and form the McDLT Team! Hot side stays hot...cool side
stays cool! I'm a genius!
Jane Blond:
- Jane lost to Tanja, Warrior Woman. Not exactly a foreboding of a push
anytime soon.
Julie Day:
- I didn't see any mention of Julie in the PPV recaps I read. If that
is accurate, she is probably gone.
Law and Order:
- Law & Order debuted.
Poison:
- Poison seemingly turned on Ice Cold, letting her ex-partner get her head
shaved. I have no problem with that part; it wasn't a great team. I do have
a problem with the clear implication that Poison is soon to join Lana's stable.
Poison and Lana were together when WOW began, and it didn't make any sense
then either. Characters like Bronco Billie (can be bought by money) or Jane
Blond (sophisticated) would be far better choices to team up with Lana than
Poison, who really has nothing at all in common with her. They should just
let Poison be on her own for a while and make a name for herself with some
quality wins and mic work.
Riot:
- Riot cost Danger the title, keeping a great feud going.
