INCITING THE ENEMY

Year 56
Near the start of the First Great War, the Vari began to realize that the strength of the Maesron Alliance was more than they could bear without help. Their Koligahr neighbors, long wary of Maesron aggression, needed only a push to bring them into a state of war with the Alliance.
To provide that push, the Vari used two Koligahr ships they had captured years earlier to raid several outposts on the Maesron border, reasoning that the Alliance would attack the Koligahr in retaliation. Most of these raids went off without a hitch, but in the last of them a Maesron CA happened to be in the area and responded to the outpost’s desperate call for help.
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 3; two Koligahr and one Maesron.
INITIAL SET-UP
TERRAIN: Small moon (P2.23) in hex 2115.
VARI: Captured Koligahr DDs (A & B) in hexes 0129 and 0130, heading B, speed max, WS-lll.
MAESRON: CA (C ) in 4201, heading E, speed max, WS-II. OB (D) in hex 2114, in clockwise standard orbit around the small moon in 2115, WS-l.
LENGTH OF SCENARIO: The scenario continues until all forces belonging to one side have been destroyed, captured, or have disengaged.
SPECIAL RULES
MAP: The map is fixed; it does not float. Any unit leaving the map has disengaged and cannot return. The Vari ships can only disengage from the 01xx hex row. Maesron units can disengage from any map edge except 01xx. Units which disengage in unauthorized areas are considered destroyed.
SHUTTLES AND PFs: No shuttles have warp booster packs.
MRS shuttles are not available in this scenario.
COMMANDER’S OPTION ITEMS
Each ship can purchase additional or special equipment as Commander’s Option Items (e.g., T-bombs, extra marines, etc.) up to 20% of its Combat BPV. See (S3.2) for details and exceptions. Note that whatever is spent here counts in the Modified Victory Conditions (S2.2) as victory points for the enemy.
Each missile-armed ship can purchase missile enhancements as part of the Commander’s Option Items provided they are available at this point in history.
REFITS: None of these ships have been refitted. No refits are available.
VICTORY CONDITIONS: Use the Modified Victory Conditions (S2.2C1). If the Maesron outpost is not destroyed, reduce the Vari victory by two levels.
