USS POCONO, AGC/LCC-16, (Amphibious Command Ship)
I served aboard the POCONO with a ComSec Detachment on an amphibious assualt
exercise to Puerto Rico and vicinity in 1969. The POCONO left Norfolk with a force of ships
en route to Vieques Island in the Caribbean. After first
stopping in Morehead City, N.C. to embark U.S. Marines from Camp Lejeune, she made another stop
in Fl., then proceeded southeast to Vieques Island. This exercise consisted
mainly of amphibious assault landings and war games on and around Vieques. Liberty was at San Juan, Puerto Rico during this cruise. Below are
some photos of that cruise, and other photos I have of the POCONO.

contribution of "Turkey, '56" photo.)

Due to my work schedule and time constraints, I am only posting my photos at this time. Chris Young has offered to take over the crew members page and has been posting some other photos also. Please go to "MY LINKS PAGE" (from my Main page) in order to get to his site, the Pocono Reunion Association Page. Thanks.
