What to play, what not to play...

My Musical Theory

I have strong opinions on music. Things like instruments are a part of who I am. If you'll kindly read on, I will be glad to inform you about the instruments I play.

Instruments

Clarinet: the clarinet is my main instrument. It is a wonderful creation that I took to easily because I had played the recorder for 3 years before I took up clarinet. It has a HUGE range; most clarinetists can reach at least 3 octaves easily. But enough of the technical stuff; I love it because it has a sweet, mellow sound and it can suit practically any situation. If you want jazz, you got it. If you want classical, you got it. If you want funeral quality music, you got it. If you want IT'S A BOY music, you got it. The clarinet can do practically anything except sound like a tuba or flute. Plus also, I have a brand spankin' new Buffet R-13, which is the most expensive, most amazing, most PERFECT-ECT instrument I've ever had the privelege to even LOOK AT o.o see? I'm looking!
Score out of 5 stars: ***** =^^=

Tenor Saxophone: the second instrument I picked up, I find it to be somewhat blah, but fun to goof around on. Tenor sax has the potential to have a deep, rich, "sexy" sound but I think I need to work on that. It really is (at least to me) an easy to play, easy to learn instrument that's fun to have around.
Score out of 5 stars: **** ^_^

Bass Clarinet: an instrument I picked up completely at random, I love bass clarinet beyond all reason. It is WAY too much fun to play, but unfortunately is rather tempermental. What I mean by that is that it really has to be perfect to play good. My bass had to be the most tempermental thing in the world. Thank you to Andrea and Becky for helping me SOO much making noise and drowning out Kim and Eric in Music for Winds and Percussion. :b It has a great sound, though, and it's low notes make the computer monitor shake and make cool little squiggly things. YAY! I played bass during 2nd semester, but I had to turn it in at the end of the school year *sniff*
Score out of 5 stars: **** ^^;

Bassoon: i picked it up for "Crooz" and think it is the coolest, weirdest instrument there is! The bassoon has a deep, kinda goosey sound that is really annoying but REALLY COOL! It works on a double reed, so it really tickles your lips. The only problem is is that my current basson (a really old rental from the middle school) has a broken ... uh "thing" (yes, i forgot the name) and is unplayable. But "Crooz" has fixed this, so YAY I will be playing very soon again!
Score out of 5 stars: **** <>_<>

Cello: sry, Bryan, but NO. It's a beautiful instrument, but it takes WAY too much time to build up to. I don't really have enough time to practice like an extra hour per day building up calluses and finger strength and not making my face make funny faces while I'm concentrating, plus working on those crazy excercises they put in the book. Mebbe next year!
Score out of 5 stars: ** @_@

That's all I play for now, so the moment (well, not the moment, but definitly sometime around the time) I learn a new instrument, I'll keep ya posted on that (if, that is, you really care)
