Alien Trilogy was to be a darkly atmospheric corridor shooter based on the Alien movies. Unlike the other unreleased Alien-based 32x game Alien Vs. Predator (which was to be based on the side-scrolling arcade game, not the Jaguar's first-person shooter), you took on the role of Ripley (Sigourney Weaver's character in the 4 movies) and fought to destroy the Alien Queen. Alien Trilogy was cancelled with all the rest of the cool-sounding 32x titles, never to be heard from again.
It's entirely possible
that some of the code from Alien Trilogy 32x was used in
the later Playstation and Saturn releases. Neither version sports particularly
impressive visuals, and all the enemies are sprite-based, much like Doom.
It has been rumored that the Saturn port of Alien Trilogy
only utilized one of the two available SH2 processors and only one of the
two available graphics co-processors. Lazy programmers!

Gamefan magazine,
sponsored by online retailer
Chips & Bits. Like many
retailers that advertise in magazines,
Chips & Bits advertised
games that were either far from completion or games that were never released
at all. The ad below quotes prices for Alien Trilogy, along
with the two other unreleased games, Clayfighter 2 and Wirehead.
