Unlike many of the Genesis to 32x conversions, Sega's "upgrade" of the underrated Dynamite Headdy would have been a welcome addition to the 32x library. The Genesis original is an addicting and remarkably colorful platform game that attracted little interest upon its initial release but has grown in stature and popularity over the years. The 32x port would have undoubtedly featured more colors and better sound... it's unknown if it would have included any additional levels or gameplay refinements. Whatever the case, Dynamite Headdy was cancelled, leaving the 32x devoid of a really slick platform game.
The original Dynamite
Headdy was programmed by legendary development house Treasure,
makers of critical favorites like Gunstar Heroes (Genesis),
Radiant
Silvergun (Saturn), and Sin & Punishment (Nintendo
64.) It isn't known how much of a role they would have played with the
32x upgrade.
