EA's popular and highly
regarded soccer simulation FIFA Soccer '96
was released for the European market, and it was scheduled for a stateside
32x debut. Unfortunately, the game was canceled due to the dying 32x market
coupled with America's relative lack of interest in soccer (compared to
football, basketball, and baseball.) The available European game runs full-speed
and full-screen on an American or Japanese 32x machine, suggesting that
the game code is actually optimized for our NTSC television format rather
than Europe's PAL format. Luckily, the released version is relatively common
(though not particularly cheap) in Europe, so give it a try if you are
so inclined to search for it.
The 3-D shooter DarXide
joins FIFA Soccer '96 as the only exclusive 32x releases
for the European market, but it cannot be played on American and Japanese
32x hardware.
