If you actually HAD to
play a Sega CD Full Motion Video title, what game would you choose? Rocket
Science Games' Loadstar: The Legend
of Tully Bodine probably doesn't come
to mind,as
it's little more than Sewer Shark
in a different outfit. Set in
the 22nd Century, the original put you in control of the title character
Tully Bodine, the captain of a cargo ship trying to escape from a Moon
base. Your mission was to convey a cargo of contraband camels (?) to the
planet Phobos. The live video features such recognizable actors as Ned
Beatty and Bary Primus, both of whom provided better-than-average performances.
The rest of the game involved clumsily moving the cursor around the screen
while shooting down pre-rendered enemies. Not much fun, really, but better
than most FMV titles. Regardless of its questionable merits, Loadstar
was canceled when it became apparent that the the 32x CD titles were selling
about as fast as cat turds.
