It's an accepted fact
in the gaming world that all of the released 32x games suck. Corpse
Killer and Night Trap might be mildly entertaining
in a funny-awful sort of way, but neither title can truly be called a "game".
Midnight Raiders might have
changed all that. The original Sega CD game is just as bad, if not
worse, than any of the Sega 32x CD games, but the developers had big plans
for the 32x upgrade. Midnight Raiders was rumored to be completely
re-done with new footage, a complex arial map, "critical hit" areas on
the enemies, and an overhauled weapons system. The gameplay would have
involved flying an Apache Helicopter, shooting down enemies, and then landing
into enemy territory, running and gunning. A prototype was said to be near
completion when Sega cancelled the project due to exceptionally poor sales
of all the 32x CD titles.
